In today's class we talked about princess culture and if it was to blame for the way children act after seeing Disney princesses on TV or the big screen. The fact is that princess culture is not to blame for this outcome, but the parents themselves are to blame. Parents who did not have much or had very little as a children tend to force logic onto their children through many different means. Some tend to give their children whatever they ask for even if it spoils them rotten. The fact is giving your children all that they desire is something that should be done carefully and not just because it is possible.
Another thing we talked about is the changes newer Disney princesses have compare to the older Disney princesses. In the older Disney princess movies most princesses tend to follow social hetero-normative standards. Such as cleaning, cooking, washing of clothing, etc. Then through all of this they will miraculously encounter their true love and fall madly in love with one another. Older Disney princess movies also always never showed or developed a story around the mother daughter aspect of the movie. Unlike in Brave where the bonds between a mother and daughter are tested to their up most limits showing both sides the flaws that they had bring them closer together and strengthening their bonds. Just like with Frozen, but the aspect in this movie is not mother and daughter. The aspect of it is the bond and ties between sisters. To me the newer Disney princess movies are far better then the older ones. The relations that are discussed in these movie hit and illuminate problems that people are seen to be faced with more in today's since.
