Sports

I am a huge sports fan so the two articles about Brittney Griner and Becky Hammon were very interesting to read. I remember when Hammon was selected this to summer to be an assistant coach to quite possibly the 3rd best coach in NBA history, behind Phil Jackson and Red Auerbach respectively. Gregg Pop did not select Hammon just because she was a woman and wanted to make a statement, he chose her because she was best suitable for the job. She had been with the team for the whole year before and won the job outright. But Pop does understand that hiring her is very big in the NBA world. There has never been an woman assistant in the NBA but this opens the door for a whole new world of possibilites. I mean men coach half of the pro and college women basketball teams, why can't women coach men? I have been saying for years to my friends and family that Pat Summit could have coached the men and women basketball teams for the University of Tennessee. I believe one day, in the near future quite possibly, we will see and women head coach for a men's basketball team. I have seen it in the high school sports system, right here in TENNESSEE, and they won the State Championship!!!!

As for the story on Brittney Griner, what she did was a huge accomplishment for women and also the gay community. She was the first ever player to come out and play a professional sport. Soon after she did two more followed, as Jason Collins and Micheal Sam. Now many would say that what she did was not huge but it was. Me personally never liked her due to the fact that she always killed my Vols and I couldn't stand her just she just scored at will and rebounded. But after her palying career and I started to read up on her and watching interviews my views began to change. Having people heckle you everyday and crying yourself to sleep is terrible and I had no idea. She is an amazing and strong willed person and I am a fan of hers (unless she still played for Baylor then it may be different haha just kidding).
